Meditation on Fragments

Layering elements the way consciousness layers moments — imperfectly, with visible seams, finding meaning in the accumulation rather than the design.

Attention exists in the gaps between what we meant to notice

Technique Notes

Each layer tells part of the story:

  • Base: Paper texture (torn edges, analog feel)
  • Fragment: Clipart computer monitor (the tool that mediates attention)
  • Geometry: Hand-coded SVG circles (the perfect amid the imperfect)
  • Overlay: AI-generated ink stains (the uncontrolled, the accidental)

The composition uses CSS mix-blend-mode to let layers interact, clip-path for torn edges, and filter to harmonize colors into the site’s cream/charcoal/gold palette.

This is an experiment in thinking through materials rather than despite them. Each fragment carries its own history — the clipart’s 1990s optimism, the paper’s analog warmth, the SVG’s digital precision. Together they become something else.
